NEET question paper preparation for teachers

By NK Sir – Organic Chemistry teacher, 27 years, Shiksha Ratna 2026

NEET is won line by line in NCERT – and a good NEET paper must test exactly those lines. Here are five sample NEET questions from the NK Eagle Eye bank, in Botany, Zoology and Chemistry, each with its answer and a short solution. Then see how to make your own 45-question paper in about two minutes.

  • 7,900+NEET questions
  • 1,500+NEET previous-year questions
  • 4subjects – P, C, B, Z

  1. Q1.Botany · Sexual reproduction in flowering plants · Fresh

Assertion (A): In an anther whose tapetum degenerates very early, the microspore mother cells do not give rise to normal viable pollen grains, although the epidermis, endothecium and middle layers of the anther wall are intact.
Reason (R): The tapetum nourishes the developing pollen grains.
In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below.

    1. (1)Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A)
    2. (2)Both (A) and (R) are true but (R) is not the correct explanation of (A)
    3. (3)(A) is true but (R) is false
    4. (4)(A) is false but (R) is true

    Answer (1)

Of the four wall layers of the microsporangium, only the innermost – the tapetum – nourishes the developing pollen grains; the other three protect the anther and help it dehisce.

If the tapetum fails early, the microspores get no nourishment, so viable pollen is not formed. (R) is true and explains (A).

  2. Q2.Zoology · Body fluids and circulation · Fresh

Consider the following statements about the heart and circulation in vertebrates.
    (a) Fishes have a 2-chambered heart that pumps only deoxygenated blood, which is oxygenated in the gills (single circulation).
    (b) Amphibians have a 3-chambered heart with two atria and a single ventricle, in which oxygenated and deoxygenated blood get mixed.
    (c) Crocodiles, like all other reptiles, have a 3-chambered heart.
    (d) Birds and mammals have a 4-chambered heart with complete double circulation.
    (e) In fishes, the heart receives oxygenated blood from the gills and pumps it to the body.
Choose the correct answer from the options given below:

    1. (1)(a), (b), (c) and (d)
    2. (2)(b), (c) and (e) only
    3. (3)(a), (d) and (e) only
    4. (4)(a), (b) and (d) only

    Answer (4)

    (a), (b) and (d) are correct.

    (c) is wrong – crocodiles are the exception among reptiles, with a 4-chambered heart. (e) is wrong – the fish heart pumps only deoxygenated blood; blood from the gills goes straight to the body.

  3. Q3.Chemistry · Biomolecules · Fresh

Read the following statements about glucose:
    (a) Glucose reacts with hydroxylamine to form an oxime.
    (b) Glucose gives a pink colour with Schiff’s reagent.
    (c) Glucose is oxidised by bromine water to gluconic acid.
    (d) Prolonged heating of glucose with HI gives n-hexane.
    (e) Glucose pentaacetate does not react with hydroxylamine.
    (f) Glucose forms the crystalline addition product with sodium hydrogen sulphite (NaHSO3).
How many of the above statements are correct?

    1. (1)1
    2. (2)2
    3. (3)3
    4. (4)4

    Answer (4)

Correct: (a) oxime with NH2OH, (c) gluconic acid with bromine water, (d) n-hexane with HI, (e) the pentaacetate does not react with NH2OH.

Wrong: (b) and (f) – glucose does not give Schiff’s test or the NaHSO3 addition product, because it exists mostly in the cyclic form. So 4 statements are correct.

  4. Q4.Zoology · Neural control and coordination · Fresh

Which one of the following statements about non-myelinated nerve fibres is correct?

    1. (1)They are enclosed by a Schwann cell that forms a myelin sheath with gaps called nodes of Ranvier, and are commonly found in the autonomic and the somatic neural systems
    2. (2)They are enclosed by a Schwann cell that does not form a myelin sheath around the axon, and are commonly found in the autonomic and the somatic neural systems
    3. (3)They have no Schwann cell covering at all and are commonly found in spinal and cranial nerves
    4. (4)They are enclosed by a Schwann cell that does not form a myelin sheath around the axon, and are mostly found in spinal and cranial nerves

    Answer (2)

NCERT line: a non-myelinated fibre is enclosed by a Schwann cell that does not form a myelin sheath, and such fibres are commonly found in the autonomic and the somatic neural systems.

Option (4) gives the place of myelinated fibres (spinal and cranial nerves); option (1) describes a myelinated fibre.

  5. Q5.Botany · Molecular basis of inheritance · NEET PYQ · 2021

Which one of the following statements about Histones is wrong?

    1. (1)Histones carry positive charge in the side chain
    2. (2)Histones are organized to form a unit of 8 molecules
    3. (3)The pH of histones is slightly acidic
    4. (4)Histones are rich in amino acids - Lysine and Arginine

    Answer (3)

Histones are basic proteins, rich in lysine and arginine, with positively charged side chains; eight of them form the histone octamer.

So “the pH of histones is slightly acidic” is the wrong statement.

Questions teachers ask

Are the questions NCERT based?

Yes. NEET questions follow the NCERT lines closely – statement questions, Assertion–Reason, match the lists and “how many are correct” – like the samples on this page.

Are NEET and JEE questions mixed?

No. NEET papers use only NEET questions, and JEE papers only JEE questions. NEET Physics and Chemistry have their own questions.

How many questions are there?

Over 7,900 NEET questions in Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, including over 1,500 real NEET previous-year questions, each marked with its year.

How many questions does a paper have?

A NEET paper has 45 questions per subject by default, and you can change the count. A NEET Match score shows how close the paper is to the real NEET.

Is there an answer key and solutions?

Yes. Every paper comes with an answer key and a detailed solution for every question.
