For colleges, teachers, students and parents who use the NK Eagle Eye app
This page explains, in plain words, what the app keeps, where it is kept, who can see it, and how to have it corrected or deleted.
Who we are
NK Eagle Eye™ is an app for junior colleges, made by Kulakarni Nanda Kishore (NK Sir). Colleges use it to make question papers, run online tests and show results to parents.
The college decides who gets an account – its teachers, office staff, students and parents. We keep the data for the college, to run the app for it.
What the app keeps
Teachers and office staff
- Name, mobile number (used as the Login ID) and subject. Office staff have a username and their post (for example, Computer Operator).
- The question papers a teacher makes, and notes she sends about a question.
Students
- Name, admission number (used as the Login ID), section, year and course.
- Gender, only if the college gives it – used only to write “your son” or “your daughter” on the parent’s page.
Parents
- Name and mobile number (used as the Login ID), and which child is theirs.
- The time the parent gave consent with a tick at the first sign-in.
Online tests and home practice
- The student’s answers, the marks, and the time spent on each question.
- When the test was opened and submitted, and how many times the student left the test screen.
- A random code the app makes on the phone, so that one test is written on one phone. It is not the phone’s number or any hardware ID.
Feedback
- Messages sent from 💬 Feedback in the app, with the sender’s name, Login ID and role.
Phone notifications
- For office staff and NK Sir, who get phone notifications (for example, “a paper arrived to print”), the app keeps that phone’s notification code. Teachers, students and parents are not asked for this.
Where it is kept
- Google Firebase – sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication, and the data is kept in Cloud Firestore.
- Cloudflare Pages – hosts the website and the app, and runs the small server steps that check sign-in and count marks.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) – delivers the phone notifications described above.
Voice requests by teachers
When a teacher taps the mic to ask for a paper, the short recording is sent to OpenAI’s speech-to-text service to turn it into text. The app keeps only the text it needs to make the paper, not the recording. If that service is not available, the browser’s own voice typing is used, which follows the browser maker’s rules.
Students and parents do not use the mic.
Who can see what
- A parent sees only their own child: marks, percentile in the section, chapter-wise analysis, time spent, and whether the child is writing the test on test day. For each subject the parent also sees the highest mark in the section, without the name of the student who got it.
- A parent never sees a rank, and never sees another child’s name or marks.
- A student sees only her own tests and marks. Solutions open after the test time ends for everyone.
- A teacher sees her own papers. Teachers chosen by the college also see their class’s practice results, to help the students.
- The office sees the papers sent to it for printing.
- NK Sir, who runs the app, can see the data to set it up, fix problems and support the college.
Passwords and sign-in
- Everyone signs in with a Login ID and a password. There is no sign-in with Google or any other account.
- The college gives a first-time password. The app asks you to make your own password at the first sign-in.
- Passwords are checked by Firebase Authentication. The app does not keep a copy of your password in its data.
- If you forget it, the college can set a new first-time password, and the app asks you to change it again.
Fingerprint and face lock
On a phone, the app can open with the phone’s own fingerprint or face unlock. The check is done by the phone itself – your fingerprint or face never leaves the phone and nothing about it is sent to us. The app only remembers, on that phone, that the lock is on. Signing in with the password always works as well.
Cookies and storage on your phone
The app does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. It uses the browser’s own storage on your phone or computer to:
- keep you signed in;
- remember small choices, such as language and sound;
- keep test answers on the phone while you write, so a weak internet does not lose them;
- keep the random test-phone code described above.
Clearing the browser’s site data removes these; you then sign in again.
What we never do
- We never sell the data.
- We never give it to anyone outside the college for their own use, or for marketing.
- No advertisements in the app or on the website.
- No advertising or analytics trackers in the app or on the website.
Children’s data
Most students are under 18. Students cannot make their own accounts: the college enters their details, and we keep them for the college. Each parent is asked for consent, with a tick, at the first sign-in.
How long we keep it
We keep the data while the college uses the app. When the college stops using the app, or asks us to, we delete its data.
Correcting or deleting your data
To correct something, take back consent, or have data deleted, tell your college office, or write to [email protected]. You can also send a message from 💬 Feedback in the app.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts keeping something new, or uses data in a new way, we will update this page and change the date below.
